Short preview 1:47

This week we’ve seen the release of a new version of the SugarCRM Mobile app. The official date of release was August 15th and this is the 6th update we’ve seen from SugarCRM Mobile in 2016.

If you haven’t seen it yet, the SugarCRM Mobile app is one of SugarCRM’s best overall features. It’s fast, clean and easy to use. It works on all Apple (iOS) and Android devices including smart phones and tablets. If you or your team need to access your CRM data out of the office, then this app is a great tool.

This release is officially 4.0.0, so it seems like SugarCRM believe it’s substantial enough to take it from being version 3.0.5, which is a much bigger jump than we’ve seen in an update for some time. It’s been a bit a stealth release so far from Sugar, but it looks like they are setting the stage for bigger and better things to come.

The video at the top of this post covers the two major features:

  1. New Design
  2. Deep Linking

For a more detailed review, check out the video review below.

Sugar are investing heavily in UX (User Experience) design and you can see their UX team has been busy with this new version. At SugarCon in San Francisco in June this year, the word was that Sugar would be introducing new UX changes to the mobile and then filter them into the main product. So we can hopefully look forward to seeing these changes make their way into the web version soon.

Overall, the new design is whiter, lighter and tighter. With the huge increase in time spent working from mobile devices it’s important to have an app that is clear and easy on the eyes. So this investment in good design will be welcomed by mobile power users.

The new deep linking feature is a smart move. Sharing links to CRM content has always been a simple case of copying the URL of the page in CRM and emailing or sending via instant message to a colleague. Now, if that email is received on a mobile device it will open it in the mobile app. See the videos for a demo on this feature.

To access deep linking there is a need to be on SugarCRM 7.1.1 . For SugarCRM clients hosted in the SugarCRM On-Demand environment, this upgrade will be rolled out by Sugar for you. For clients hosting their own (On-Premise) instance of Sugar you will need to contact your SugarCRM partner to organise this for you.

If you aren’t using SugarCRM and would like to try the app, full trials of SugarCRM and the App are available.
